New Formation House for the District of Asia

img_3813Last October 17, 2016, the Chanel Formation Community has moved to their new house at 82 1st Avenue,Tulip Drive, Juna Subdivision, Davao City.

After months of renovation, the new house was blessed by Rev. John Gouwang,sm and attended by Fr. Pat Devlin, sm, the District Superior of the Marist Fathers of Asia with some Marist priests and seminarians. Those who came to witness the simple blessing were the Architects together with their families, some PIMM members (Partnerimg_3858s in Marist Mission), and our new neighbors.

It was a happy and meaningful occasion for the new community to meet the people who worked hard to complete the project as well as to meet the neighbors of the place. A simple snacks was offered to all who came for the celebration.

The Marist Fathers Formation House in Dumalag started in 1994 established by Fr. John OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALarsen, sm and was the first Novitiate house of the District of Asia. Most of the Filipino Marist priests have lived, formed and completed their formation to religious and priestly studies in here. It also became a place of the International English Speaking Novitiate in 2009.

To leave the place in Dumalag was not easy because it has a very significant and memorable value to all Marists who have been in Davao. We would always be grateful for the years we have lived in Dumalag especially to the people who have become part of our lives and who were good and supportive neighbors for many years.

We also would like to thank the Borromeo family for allowing us to stay on their land. They were very generous and kind to us. Our prayers go with them.

We thank God and our blessed Mother for giving us this gift of a new house. We pray that our stay here would be blessed and bear fruits for the coming years. You are welcome to visit us in our new accommodation.
