The three members of the District of Asia who recently celebrated their perpetual profession of the evangelical vows are now deacons.
Niño Memorial SM, Roque Rebito SM and John Guo Wang SM were ordained by the Bishop of Digos, the Most Reverend Guillermo Afable, in a joyous celebration held at the Matti District Catholic Center (MDCC) on 11th May 2016.
Members of the MDCC community – which is being developed into a parish under Marist leadership – were joined by visitors from around Mindanao and beyond to celebrate the gift of three new deacons to the Church.
In his homily, Bishop Afable stressed that Niño, Roque and John must strive to be good Marists and be faithful to personal prayer if they are to be good ministers to God’s people.
Over the coming six months, the three deacons will minister in Sta Ana and Our Lady of Lourdes (Bangkal) parishes in Davao and at MDCC, as well as assisting with local Marist ministries.
