On Friday 18th March, Aljory Jhon Boje became the first Marist graduate of St Francis Xavier College Seminary in Davao City.
Along with 32 other religious and diocesan seminarians, Jhon-Jhon received a Bachelor’s Degree (AB Philosophy) as the culmination of four years of study.
Jhon-Jhon’s parents, along with one of his sisters, were able to travel to Davao to join in the celebrations.
As a postulant, he will now focus on preparing for next year’s novitiate.
On Saturday 19th March, Bros. Niño Memorial and Roque Rebito also celebrated a graduation: from St. Alphonsus Theological and Mission Institute, with the degree of Master in Theology in Pastoral Ministry.
Prior to their graduation, Niño and Roque both successfully defended synthesis papers as the final requirement for the conferment of the degree. Niño’s paper – “Set the Captives Free: Challenging the Penal System” – looked at the situation of prisoners in Davao City, while Roque’s – “Remembering and Forgetting: Memory and Theology” – explored the theological significance of memory.
Niño and Roque, along with John Guo Wang (currently on his pastoral year in Davao), will be perpetually professed next month, and then ordained deacons in May.
We congratulate Jhon-Jhon, Niño and Roque on their academic achievements! And we wish them well as they take the next steps of their respective formation journeys.
