The Council of the District of Asia has held its most recent meeting in Thailand.
The Council ordinarily meets in Davao every three months to review and plan for Marist life and ministries throughout the District.
This last meeting, however, was held in Ranong, allowing the community there to participate fully and to present and share their mission with Council members from the Philippines.
Marist Mission Ranong – now established as the Marist Asia Foundation – gives a Christian witness of service in predominantly Buddhist Thailand via ministries of education and healthcare to Burmese migrant workers and their families.
After the Council meeting, a two-day missiology seminar was held.
Fr Larry Sabud SM, who recently completed a Licentiate in Missiology, led the District in reflecting on the Church’s contemporary understanding of mission and how they are living it out as Marists in Asia.
The time together in Thailand concluded with a short vacation in Phuket.
