Marists joined 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration of Mr. & Mrs. Pastor Sabud.

IMG_3811The parents of Fr. Larry Sabud, SM celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on 23 October 2014 at San. Antonio de Padua Church, Davao City.

The theme of the celebration is: “Sixty years of God’s overflowing graces”.

Indeed, to reach 60 years as couple is the work of God’s grace and love working in and through Pastor and Raquel.

Pastor Sabud and Raquel Bajao got married in 23rd October 1954. They were blessed with 9 children.

In spite of the hardships and poverty they endured in life, they were able to send their children to school and took care of them until they all became professionals: one son became a priest , one daughter is a religious nun, a teacher and 4 sons working as seafarers.IMG_3780

A beautiful reception followed at Linmar Hotel where the Sabud’s children were joined by their relatives and friends to celebrate the diamond wedding anniversary of their parents.

What most significant for Fr. Larry is to know that all his siblings are present to celebrate the 60th wedding anniversary of his beloved parents.

The Marist Fathers of the District of Asia wish to convey our prayers, wishes and congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Pastor Sabud and their children and grand children on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.

See what God can do! See what love can do! What a blessing!

Fr. Paul Martin Visits the District

DSCF7329Fr. Paul Martin, a Marist priest from New Zealand arrived in Davao for a short visit. Fr. Paul who is an educator by profession has been engaged in education ministry in New Zealand especially in administering some of the Marists schools in New Zealand.

This is not his first time to visit Davao particularly. He visited Davao in 1999 to visit Fr. Damian Dempsey, who was still a seminarian on pastoral immersion that time. He visited Marist missions at that time such as in Kalabugao. We could not imagine how he was able to manage to ride a motorbike going up to Kalabugao considering his height and built. But God always make a way!

Fr. Damian will tour him around Davao and also to visit some of the Marist places. We wish you luck Fr. Paul! Enjoy your short visit!
