Paul Molbwet,sm (Vanuatu) and Fernando Torres,sm (Mexico) arrived safely in Davao on 1 July. They are here to do a 3 months summer-immersion; to learn by experience some of the real life situation of Marist Mission in Asia. It is a time for them to think creatively about mission and expand their missionary imagination. The hope of this immersion is that they will develop their skills to live in a cross-cultural situation in working with the poor and abandoned. Both will be working in the different ministries around Davao.
On Sunday, 7th July, they were formally welcomed to the District of the Philippines in a simple liturgy and dinner at Bangkal Formation House. Welcoming them were the members of the International Novitiate community, some Marist sisters, the lay Marists and the Bangkal community where they will be based. A simple entertainment followed after dinner.
Both Fernando and Paul are studying Theology at the Gregorian University, Rome. Warm welcome to Asia!
